Be alert this holiday season while you are looking through Facebook, beware of these common holiday scams.

Once the holidays are over, it seems like people either chill at home or go shopping with Christmas money and gift cards. If you're someone who goes shopping, be aware.

This is one I didn't fall for, but I can see someone easily becoming a victim.  Have you ever gotten this phone call?

EZ Pass Scam Alert

Have you shopped at your local Target in the past 3 weeks or so?  Have you used your credit card for anything?  Uh-oh!!

The telephone and email scammers are at it again, although I’m not sure it ever stops.

You know how it is on Facebook.  It's all about the "likes".  People blindly "like" every Tom, Dick, Harry or Sue on the planet - many times without the slightest clue as to who they are liking.  And that, my Facebook friends, is where our story begins!

You want to talk about the lowest of the lowest of the low?  They are scammers - people who especially use a tragedy to attempt to profit off it.  I can't BELIEVE that I even have to spread the word about this, but as a public service....

Nice try, Mr Daniels.  This gentleman posted his winning lottery ticket on  Facebook.  He made history, and not for the amount of money he made.

This was written partly for comic relief, but also partly as a warning to all out there.  The scammers are running rampant, and at a time when everyone's loose with their money, the opportunities are ripe!  Here's a warning in rhyming form

You know what phishing is, right?  Someone sends you a letter "fishing" for information from you - be it your social security number or bank account information.  I'm getting sick to death of these things, so I'm going to start publishing these fake emails so you can watch out as well.

It's incredibly sad that there are people evil enough in the world that they would even think to victimize someone who has already been hurt by a natural disaster but the reality is that not everyone in the world is a good person.  USA Today has an article today that gives some pointers to protect yourself from these scams - check out some of those tips after the jump.
