reading writing and rhyming

And I loved them!  First graders CAN write great song parodies.  You might not think that would be possible, but you could see the "wheels turning" throughout the writing of this little ditty at the Mare Curie Institute in Amsterdam.  Want to hear it?  I knew you would!

This is going to be a labor of love.  All I need are 2 more schools to make this songwriting dream a reality

Ok, Mrs. Dunspaugh - I have a question.  How do you continue to have the best kids for me to write a song with?  By the way, behind every great kid is a fantastic teacher.  Just sayin.  Now on with the song

We're coming up on ALMOST 20 years of doing this program, and it has to rank as the most rewarding thing I've ever done (besides morning radio, of course).  You too can be a part of this experience.

The Lunch, Learn and Play program is a summer camp located in beautiful Salem, New York.  I had the pleasure of taking a trip up there for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour, and I certainly wasn't disappointed by the outcome!

This is the time that the Hillside Summer Camp in Niskayuna reserved for "Mismatch Day", where  happy campers adorn themselves with- you guessed it- clothes that don't go together. (Wow, a group after my own heart!)

I was at the Bethlehem YMCA for the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour, brought to you by….(insert sponsor's name here - we don't have one right now -hint hint) .  Anyway, this was a great chance to meet a bunch of real "Champs"

I've done it before and am prepared do it again!  I bought a new tent and canteen, so I'm all set.  (Just kidding - all I bring is my keyboard and recording device).  Why? I want to write a song with campers and air it on the Sean and Richie Show!

The kids from Pinewood Elementary School had one thing on their mind – Phys Ed class. I think I can understand why. They had just finished taking very grueling ELA tests.  Time to give them a break and have a little fun, so we wrote a song together

This was definitely a challenge, and I mean that in a positive way.  I actually didn't sleep the night before worrying that I was going to fail miserably.  How do you rhyme Spanish words when you don't know Spanish?  GULP.  Mrs. Gordon's class to the rescue!

The summer is almost done, and I've had a last minute cancellation.  I want to go to one more summer camp and write an end of season song.  Who's up for it?
