You may be taking a road trip this summer and need to stop for a break. If you stop to sleep at a rest area on the New York State Thruway, would you get fined or arrested?

We've all been there. You have a long trip on the New York State Thruway and you start to get drowsy. You don't want to stop for a long time so you pull into a rest area and get some coffee to wake you up. But what if you need to shut your eyes and sleep? Will you get fined or arrested?

We finally have Chick-fil-A in the Capital Region and there are more being proposed. It seems, though they are building in already congested areas. This one is no exception it may be the busiest area in Rensselaer County.

If any of you speed demons forgot what the speed limit is supposed to be on NY highways, don't worry, it might be changing soon anyway.

The New York State Thruway is in the process of overhauling all 27 of the rest areas. Although they are only working on a handful at a time, the renderings have been revealed. Not only will they be more of an open concept, but some will also have dog parks and all will have better food options.

There was a one-car accident on the Thruway near Canajoharie Friday morning where there were ten dogs involved. Passerbys jumped into action and not only got help for the humans, but they also corralled and saved ten dogs that were involved in the crash.

The New York State Thruway is in the process of overhauling all 27 of the rest areas. Although they are only working on a handful at a time, the renderings have been revealed. Not only will they be more of an open concept, but some will also have dog parks and all will have better food options. Look for Shake Shack, Panera, Starbucks, Panda Express, Chik-fil-A, Popeyes, Dunkin, Burger King, and a new fresh concept Applegreen convenience stores. Taste NY farm markets will be at each rest area along with play areas and picnic areas. There will be amenities for commercial truck drivers including more truck parking, showers, fitness centers, and laundry facilities.

The New York State Thruway Authority will begin a four hundred fifty million dollar project to renovate the twenty-seven service areas throughout New York state. They will rebuild twenty-three of the rest area buildings and the others will be significantly upgraded.
