'Tis the season to take down all of the Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree. Now's the time we are all trying to find a way to dispose of our real trees. If you live in the town of Clifton Park, here's what you need to know.

Penny Bartlett from Colonie is the proud Marine Mom of 26-year-old Ian and she wrote to GNA hoping we'd honor him as August's Hometown Hero.  Mom also told us that her son may be slightly uncomfortable with the 'fanfare' that comes along with it and decided to spend a few minutes with, in her words, why her son is so amazing.

Chrissy and I have had the pleasure of contacting our GNA Hometown Heroes each month for nearly three years. We have never had a phone call quite like this.  Frank Lockwood from Coxsackie is a man of true character and integrity.  He's a priest, addictions counselor, volunteer firefighter, and to top it off, the man rides a Harley.  When we called to tell him that his wife Joanne nominated him to

County Waste has partnered with us to honor those in our communities who are truly making a difference and Josh Grassi from Clifton Park is truly one-of-a-kind.  He loves animals so much, his spends countless hours (and his own resources) tracking down and locating lost pets.

County Waste has partnered with us to honor those in our communities who are truly making a difference. All throughout 2017, we will be recognizing one “hero” per month based on their inspirational feats, work helping their neighbors, and everyday passion.

WGNA will be kicking off a new program next week where we will team up with County Waste and Latham Ford to celebrate local unsung heroes for their good deeds and honorable work. We've already gotten great responses to our call-out for submissions and will be talking about our first selected "hero" on air and on our website next week...
