One thing on the internet that gets me every time is video of soldiers surprising their families with an unexpected return home and one local soldier that just that at a Union College hockey game.

This is very cool-an extremely touching video. A disabled veteran proposes to his girlfriend in Kennebunkport,Maine in front of some very famous people.

Taste of Country Music Festival headliner and overall good guy Brad Paisley went way out of his way to honor the troops over Memorial Day weekend.  He flew to Afghanistan for a surprise visit to Bagram Air Base where he played an hour-long acoustic set for about 3,000 U.S. troops!

Let's face it, the world is full of bad news and catastrophes and the media is falling all over itself to bring it to you. Really, just watching the news every night could lead you to depression. i saw very touching story in the Times Union this morning .  A very concerned and dedicated (retired) Capital Region teacher is putting out a call for children's books to be sent to our troops in Afghanistan.  I wanted to see if I could spread the word here.

Patrick Casey of Clifton Park is the latest soldier from the Albany area to lose his life. Sadly, he survived Afghanistan and lost his life at a McDonalds in Washington D.C.

The actions of one American citizen in the United States has led to chaos in Afghanistan including the death of 6 American Soldiers.

A local family is counting their many blessings this Christmas as a local soldier comes home after a long journey.  While many people are wishing for giant gifts under the tree, you could say that Santa, with some help from up above, has already given the McDermott family the greatest gift of all, their son is coming home!
