An unused highway ramp and an eyesore near Albany are finally going to be used as a walkway and bike path to downtown Albany. Construction will begin this month on the seldom-used ramp and be finished by the end of the year. This is part of the revitalization of the downtown Albany area to create an easier way for pedestrians and bicyclists to access the city.
There have been multiple accidents on Cohoes Boulevard since 2000 and the most recent fatal accident happened just last year. There have been several plans proposed to revamp that area at the end of 787 and the latest have been revealed.
I live near the area where a young girl who was crossing the street last year, in the crosswalk, was struck and killed. It was a horribly sad story and now lawmakers, the DOT and Cohoes are all doing their part to make it safer for all.
