Police Looking For Suspect In Columbia County Dog Shooting

Local family finds their dog shot in the woods.

It seems like each day I hear a story and I think, I can't believe these things are happening in the world and they are happening right in our area. This story is in that category.

New York State Police are looking  for a person, or the people, responsible for shooting a dog in Columbia County. State Police say a Siberian Husky escaped its leash about two weeks ago and the dog fled to the woods. The owners found the dog in the woods with a gun shot wound to its leg. Police say the firearm used to shoot the dog was a small-caliber firearm.

After the owners found the dog, they rushed him to the vet, however the dog did not survive. The Husky passed away from his gunshot wound.

State police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
