New, Long Zip Line Coming To Lake George Area

I’ve done a few articles in the past about places to go spend time on vacation that aren’t too far from the Albany area.

Many of those are day trips. Now there’s an added attraction that’s planned for French Mountain in the Lake George area. Maybe you can plan on it to be part of your vacation. It’s a zip line. It’s being called one of the longest zip lines in the United States, at a length of more than 3,400 feet, with about a 1,000 foot vertical drop.

The owner of the new attraction, which will be called The Eagle Flyer, is Ralph Macchio, Sr. He is also owns The Wild West Ranch. If his name sounds familiar it may because you have heard of his son, Ralph Macchio, Jr., the actor. He's has been in a few movies including ‘Karate Kid’ and ‘My Cousin Vinny’.

Macchiao, Sr. has been investing a lot of time and money for the new zip line.  He needed to get several approvals from several different place including the towns of Lake George and Queensbury, The Adirondack Park Agency and had to work something out with a neighboring business. That part of the process took five years. As for the financial investment part, that was around $3 million dollars.

According to the article in The Saratogian, the official opening date hasn’t been announced.
