Got Pennies? They Are Worth Double This Weekend At This New York Grocery Store Chain
Say goodbye to the penny! On Wednesday November 12th the U.S. Mint produced the final penny that will be used as legal tender. What happens now? Are the pennies you currently have worth more all of a sudden? This Sunday they will be.
There are currently 114 billion pennies in circulation so the odds of your penny collection suddenly skyrocketing in value is unlikely. However, there is one grocery store chain here in New York that will pay you double for your copper coins this weekend.

On Sunday November 16th, from 11am-4pm, Market 32 and Price Chopper are inviting customers to turn their spare change into double the value. Stop in to your neighborhood location and head to Customer Service, for a Double Exchange Day! This will be taking place at each store.
This could be your only chance to turn 1 cent into 2 cents. One day only! Let's say you bring in $50 worth of pennies. Market 32 or Price Chopper will give you a $100 gift card. Then you can use that gift card toward future in-store purchases. The minimum exchange is 50 cents to $1 and the max is $100 to $200.
Cash transactions remain an important part of how we serve our customers, and for those who prefer to pay with cash, we want to make sure we can continue providing the same great checkout experience—right down to the penny. - Blaine Bringhurst, President of Market 32 and Price Chopper.
