
Missing Elderly New York Woman Found Freezing and Confused In Corn Field
This elderly New York woman was reported missing, then found hours later freezing in a corn field.
According to missingpersons.gov, the reasons someone might go missing are many and varied, intentional and unintentional. Reasons for going missing may include anxiety and depression, misadventure, homelessness, dementia, domestic violence, becoming a victim of crime, and drug/alcohol abuse.

On Wednesday January 28th, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Forest Ranger Laymon responded to a call for a search for a missing 70-year-old female.

The missing subject’s husband called around 4:30pm to report his wife missing from their home. Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputies followed her tracks to Butternut Creek. Ranger Laymon went to County Route 12, where the road crosses the creek, and at 7:40pm, spotted the missing subject standing in a cornfield.
Ranger Laymon wrapped the woman, who appeared to be hypothermic, in a blanket and walked her to the road where Otsego County Emergency Medical Services was waiting. The subject stated she left the house before 9:30am to go for a walk and became confused. The patient was transported to Bassett Hospital.
