The Capital Region isn't short on great Italian places for you to feast at.

It was a sad day to see yet another Wolf Rd restaurant close up shop .This one stings because I really enjoyed eating at Bucca Di Beppo. I know that it was a chain, but the food there was still really good.

One thing that I really am thinking a lot about is the local staff that has been displaced after the announcement of the restaurant closing. I seriously hope that they can all find more work soon.

Now, something we do not have to worry about when it comes to finding a replacement Italian spot to eat at here in Albany because we have some seriously good Italian restaurants in the area to choose from.

Take your pick from greta places in Albany, Schenectady or Troy we have great locations cooking up some amazing cuisine.

Since I'm part Italian I thought I'd give you my personal picks of the places I like to go to when I can't cook it up myself. Every Italian knows that your cooking is the best, but sometimes you find a worthy restaurant to go to.

Here are my picks in no particular order

1. Ralph's in Albany - This place is legendary and if you have never had the wings from here you're seriously missing out. If anyone ever asks me where to find good Italian in the Capital Region I will send to Ralph's every time.

2. Johnny's in Schenectady - Right off of State Street across from Proctors this is a great place to grab something before a show, or even just for a night out. Also a perfect lunch spot. Don't sleep on Johnny's. Get the Italian nachos.

3. Cafe Italia Ristorante  - What can I say, I'm an Albany guy and this place has been cooking up some of the best food for years. Now they have an all new location in Guilderland more people get to enjoy this fantastic food that's been here since 1975.

4. Romo's in Glenmont - I know that you may see Romo's as a "pizza place" but I promise you that Anthony and crew are cooking up so much more than that. There is a reason why that parking lot is jam packed.

5. Canali's in Schenectady - Listen. you know a place is good when their dining room is only open a few days of the week. That's called demand, baby. They've been in business for 77 years and that won't be ending anytime soon.
