An estimated 12.5 million pizzas will be ordered on Super Bowl Sunday. Many of those transactions will be made with an app and, with the exception of the delivery person, you could do the entire transaction without interacting with a human. Soon enough you might not even need the delivery person.

The use of drone technology has exploded over the last 10 years. In Australia KFC have used their drone force to deliver meals to over 100,000 customers. CBS News reports that Walmart is using an on-demand delivery service with drones in Arkansas and Dominos is said to be the first company to deliver pizza via drone.

One of the biggest hurdles for New York State joining this space age advancement is getting the FAA on board.

Late last year Governor Hochul announced that the New York Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site has secured approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to fly drones beyond visual line of sight across the entire 50 miles of airspace within New York's Drone Corridor.

Of course the use of drones won't be used simply to deliver your chicken wings when you have the munchies. New York State intends to use this advancement to assist the New York State Thruway Authority inspect bridges and the DEC with environmental missions, to name a couple.

With this big step forward it won't be long before you are shouting, Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's my lunch!

Many in our area are excited for another season in the Adirondacks and the Lake George Ice Castles. Set to open for the season later this Winter, this year's exhibit
the Ice Castles will be expanded and enhanced in year two, and some of the significant additions include, an ice bar, whimsical winter characters for meet-and-greets, and new light features according to Town officials.

This magical display debuted last winter in the ADKs and is set to open later this year, and weather permitting, it will run through the entire 2023 Winter Season.
