Miranda Lambert Finally Reveals How Brendan McLoughlin Proposed [Exclusive]

The surprise love story of Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin has been pretty well documented over the past five years, since she dropped a bombshell on fans in early 2019 and announced that she'd gotten married.

Fans didn't even know Lambert had been dating someone new, much less that she'd gotten engaged, so her man and their wedding were a mystery, and people had questions.

But everyone seemed to get caught up in the fact that they eloped, and no one ever really asked the "Wranglers" singer how her man, a former NYPD officer, had asked for her hand. How did they get engaged?

How Did Brendan McLoughlin Propose to Miranda Lambert?

Ahead of her hotly-anticipated new album Postcards From Texas (Sept. 13), Lambert stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio to chat with host Evan Paul, so he asked her.

She was happy to spill the tea — though there isn't too much to spill.

"He just said, 'Wanna get married?' And I was like, 'Alright.'"

"It was pretty simple," she admits, reflecting on that special moment she shared with McLoughlin. "He's from New York — they're very direct. And I'd had already been married, so I was like, 'Well, let's give it a whirl.'"

"And we're five years in, and we're killin' it!" she boasts.

This week, she and her hubby stepped out for her first-ever MTV VMAs back in his native New York, where they matched on the red carpet in black date night attire.

When they're not making appearances in support of her new music, they like to lay low and keep it pretty laid back. The couple bought an Airstream trailer a few years back and enjoy traveling the country in it.

How Did Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin Meet?

Lambert and McLoughlin laid eyes on one another on the set of GMA in November 2018, but neither made the first move. She was doing media for the release of the Pistol Annies' Interstate Gospel album, which came out on Nov. 2, 2018.

That's the day her bandmates Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe spotted McLoughlin, who was doing security for the morning show.

"My girlfriends, the Annies, saw him and knew I might be ready to hang out with someone," Lambert recalled to the New York Times in fall 2019, a year after she met McLoughlin. "They invited him to our show behind my back. They plucked him for me. My security guy Tom, he was in on it too. He said to me, 'He’s here. And he’s pretty.'"

She's still just as smitten when she talks about her man all these years later — she lights up like a kid on Christmas!
