Blake Shelton sure has some passionate fans! The country star and coach on The Voice garnered a wide range of very heartfelt reactions after a social media post that hinted he might retire soon.

Shelton posted to Twitter on Tuesday night (Jan. 2) after watching a documentary about Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, who announced his retirement on Tuesday after 42 years of coaching. Arians cited his desire to spend more time with his family as one of his prime motivations for the decision.

"Watching @BruceArians life story NFL channel. Damn proud to call you my friend coach," Shelton tweeted. "Enjoy your retirement!!! I’ll be joining you REAL soon brother!!!"

That post — Shelton saying he'd be joining Arians in retirement real soon — led to intense reactions from his online followers. Shelton has settled into what appears to be domestic bliss with his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, and her three sons; both stars frequently post personal glimpses of their life together to social media, most recently from a fun Christmas they all spent together. Fans were split between begging Shelton not to retire so soon and encouraging him to take all the time he would like to enjoy his life with Stefani and the kids:

The singer has hinted at retirement before, but it was recently announced that he has re-signed with Warner Bros., the label where he has spent his entire career. Details of the deal have not been revealed, but CEO John Esposito tells Billboard that Shelton will essentially play out the rest of his career under the new contract.

Shelton's career has never been hotter. He was the most-played artist on country radio in 2017, and he recently scored his 25th No. 1 hit with "I'll Name the Dogs." He is also hitting the road in 2018 on his Country Music Freaks Tour, featuring Brett EldredgeCarly Pearce and Trace Adkins.

Wow! Blake Shelton Has Really Changed Since He Started His Career!
