I'm not sure if this will affect our local stores. Best Buy is the largest U.S. electronics retailer and they're planning to use less space at their big-box stores by 10 percent over the next few years.

This is something that they think should eventually save $70 million to $80 million annually. Their plan is to open several smaller mobile stores and expand online and in China as they are trying to be more competitive as consumers increasingly shop online.

According to a story from AP, Big-box stores are increasingly being seen as out of style as more shoppers are purchasing products online and from competing discounters like Target and Wal-Mart.

Recently, Ultimate Electronics liquidated all their stores. They had one in Crossgates Commons in Albany. It sounds like the big-box stores might be on the way out. Are you shopping online more, or at different places than you used to?
