Zac Brown Band are currently in the middle of their Black Out the Sun Tour this summer. As frontman Zac Brown explains in an interview with his label, Big Machine Label Group, he tries to bring his five kids out when he can.

Brown and his wife home school their children, and his family join him frequently on the road when their schedule allows.

“Family comes out whenever we know it’s gonna be steady on a run that’s continuous," he shares. "If I’m chartering in and out and flying home at four in the morning or three in the morning after I play and then drive to the airport, that doesn’t make sense."

He says when it does make sense, though, he'll bring his family out and spend time with them during the day before the band takes the stage later that evening. Home schooling their daughters gives them the chance to see a little U.S. history up close.

"Part of what we’re doing this year and when we go to the Northeast is doing an American history tour, and so some of their history that they’re gonna be learning is right there on the sites of where it actually happened," he adds.

Zac Brown Band are currently promoting their summer-infused single "Castaway." The band were also recently announced as headliners of 2017 WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn. They join Luke Bryan as a headliner for the three-day festival held at Soo Pass Ranch.
