It was a beautiful day for the 143rd Travers Stakes in Saratoga, New York.  The oldest major thoroughbred race in America, at the nation's oldest sporting venue, once again brought huge crowds and lots of excitement.

NBC reports that over 45,000 people packed the historic Saratoga Race Course on a Sunny 85 degree day to witness the mid-summer derby, the peak of the Saratoga racing season.  In the end, we had a dead heat, with both the 'favorite' Alpha and the 'long shot' Golden Ticket crossing the finish line at the same time! Here's hoping you won a little cash on the winning horses!
