Los Angeles-based Americana / folk rock band Will and the Wont's are premiering a new song exclusively to The Boot readers.

"'Wake Up Clean' is a fairly straightforward song that wasn't necessarily inspired by one person [or] event, but rather a series of repeating occurrences," the band -- Andrew Bilotti, Gui Bodi and Will Risbourg -- says. "The song is about the struggle of trying to rid oneself of an attachment to a malicious and cold antagonist figure."

The band recorded the tune live to four-track magnetic tape in one take; they say it was tracked and mixed in about an hour. It's a process the trio hopes to use for their first album as well.

"We intend to continue recording in this fashion; however, we don't plan on using a producer for our full-length recording," they say. "We just purchased an eight-track tape machine, and through busking in Pasadena, we are going to raise money to purchase and install analogue equipment ... Hopefully, we will begin recording early next year!"

'Wake Up Clean,' compared to some of Will and the Wont's other songs, definitely leans more toward the band's rock side, but there's still a tinge of Americana. On Twitter, the band notes that "People have said we sound like Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, CCR, the Avett Brothers, the Black Keys and Jack White."
