No question about it, this is one talented songwriter.

By now I'm sure you've heard our Countryfest headliner, Dierks Bentley's new single "Riser." Turns out it isn't just an awesome song about overcoming life's inevitable struggles, it was a brave move to even release the song in the first place.

Bentley told CMT News:

"I said, ‘I don’t want to throw tempo out there just to throw tempo out there. I want to put out a great song. Riser’ is just important, and I feel like I’d forever be kicking myself for not being brave enough to give it shot. We could do an easier song, but this one needs to be heard. It affects people going through tough times, People can find strength in it."

After he released "Say You Do," a slower ballad back in October, it seemed like the best decision was to release an uptempo summer track. Dierks decided to release "Riser" instead. He made it clear he was more interested in releasing songs he felt were great rather than songs he knew would do well in the charts.

"Maybe I’m naïve, but I believe in great music," he told CMT News.

We believe in you, Dierks.
