So I'm driving home past Albany International Airport yesterday, 8/26, and this huge hauler is creeping by me in the other direction complete with police escort.  Gee- what's all the fuss about?

Yup.  You guessed it.  I was driving by the MOMENT the iconic AMERICAN PHAROAH began his journey from AIR HORSE ONE (love that name) up to Saratoga to prepare for his debut at the Travers this Saturday

I quickly whipped out the iPhone and took a quick snap of the van (I couldn't get the whole thing in one picture - it's rather long!

I couldn't even see inside the windows.  I was so bummed. Just to see his NOSTRILS would have thrilled me.   I guess many others were disappointed as well -i.e. the folks who waited in the parking lots to catch a quick glimpse.

Regardless, it was still very cool to have this brush with greatness, even though it was just the famous "wheels" that transported him.   Best of luck to this amazing horsey.  Here he is in the flesh…
