We were flying to our vacation destination recently from Newark airport when I happened to see the beautiful NYC skyline. Perhaps I showed my stupidity, but I kept staring at that big structure protruding in the center. Is that what I think it is?

It has to be the Freedom Tower, right?

It has to be, right? I remember getting an actual chill inside when I got a confirmation from others on the flight. It made me think of how proud I was as an American to see that we built that thing from the ground up—taller than ever. Loud and proud. An unmistaken symbol of our power to overcome as a nation. (Of course being in an airplane and seeing it is even more of a surreal feeling).

I am writing this blog on the 13th anniversary of that horrible event, which made me recall this simple little photo taken hastily with my cell phone. Heartfelt thoughts to all of the families out there. You are not forgotten!
