I have always been a big fan of hypothetical questions. My favorite of course is what would you do if you won the lottery.  I suspect most of us are not going to answer that one that much differently. It's a great question to roll around in your own head, but I 'm not sure hearing other people's response will add any insight to your thinking.  However it is sometimes fun to hear about other people's favorites like movies , books, and albums.

Today we will tackle albums.  An album for those of you who have not heard the term in some time is a collection of songs released at one time as a package.  It is a C.D.  Some people still picture vinyl records when you sat "album"  but the term actually still does apply.  So  if you had to spend the rest of your life with only three albums to listen to, what would they be?

For me it starts with the first one I ever purchased.  Maybe it is because it was my first, or maybe its the fact that I love the artist and every song on it.  I'm not sure but I would have to have Billy Joel's "The Stranger".   Of course on of my favorite songs on the album is "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant".  And that is really the feel for the whole album.

Also a big influence on me growing up, and another album that has a great "feel" to it, from beginning to end is Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run".  This is such a hard one as I am a huge Bruce fan.  I love all the albums ,"The River" and "The wild,  the innocent and the E Street shuffle", "Darkness"  man. they are all so good but I don't know how I could go the rest of my life without hearing songs like "Jungleland" and "Thunder Road".

I'm noticing as I write this, the answers seem so easy but as I get to my last choice there are so so many contenders.  I think if you all just list the first three that come to mind, I wont hold you to your list should this choice actually have to be made.  Right now I think I have at least ten more albums running through my mind that are just must haves in any collection.

OK, I can't really decide so I will go with my current favorite.  If you know me at all you may have already guessed that would have to be Zac Brown.  It is.  Their latest release, " You get what you give" is a great C.D.  Like my other two picks it does have a "feel" to it, but less of an album feel and more just a "Zac" feel. The songs on the album are actually very different in many ways, but still you can mistake that is Zac or the band. There is definitely a style to them.  I like to think of them as Country's Jam Band.  You always get the feeling if they didn't have to they would just keep playing even if it meant each song is 20 minutes long.  They are not.  One song in particular that I just love is one you may not have heard yet unless you own the C.D., "Keep me in mind" I don't think I could ever hear enough of.

So there is my three.  Though to be honest there are so many others that could have made the list.  Like Garth Brook's, "No Fences".  Or Jason Mraz's, "Waiting for my rocket to come".  Pink Floyd's "The Wall".  Jon Anderson's "Eye of the Hurricane".  Steve Azar's "Indianola".  Or of course, anything by Barry Manilow.  OK maybe not the last one.

So  there are mine. I'd love to hear yours. Clearly it doesn't matter if its Country or not , just try to get yourself down to three.  I tried!  That way , if I like a couple on your list and I see one I haven't heard , maybe it will be my next purchase.  And at the least you will have some fun trying to pick your three.

Go.
