WGNA’s ‘Shop With A Cop’ Helps 7 Local Families

Shop with a Cop was a huge success this year!

This year, WGNA and "The Sean, Richie & Bethany Show" teamed up with the Schenectady County Sherriff’s Department, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department and Crossgates Mall to host Shop With A Cop. Together we raised enough money to help seven local families have a happy holiday season!
This past Saturday, we hit the mall! Police officers from around the Capital Region took seven families shopping for that special Christmas gift! I can’t tell you how nice it was to see the smiles on their faces. Each child was paired with a police officer to go get some presents. When these kids took the police officers' hands to walk to their favorite stores, it was probably the sweetest thing I have seen in long time. They were so happy, and so were the cops!

Shop With A Cop highlights helping kids in our communities, but also highlights our police officers who protect our kids and communities each day.
Thank you again to everyone who donated their time or money to this event. We raised enough money to give each family over $400 to help with holiday costs!  We can’t wait to do this again next year! Hopefully we can increase the amounts and the number of families!
