The other day, I had a story about a new and dangerous deer tick borne disease that’s now in the Albany area, now officials from the New York State Department Of Health have confirmed that the West Nile Virus has been discovered in New York State. It was reported that it’s been detected down state in Rockland County in a mosquito pool. Luckily. We haven’t heard any reports of anyone having the virus. The West Nile Virus hasn't  been detected in the Capital Region, yet.

In the story on CBS 6 Albany, according to the New York State Department Of Health, there are ways that you can protect yourself from getting the virus by being bitten by those pesky mosquitos. Some of those recommendations include putting mosquito repellent on yourself, wearing socks, shoes and sleeved shirts. Another thing that you can do is to make sure that there’s no standing water on your property. The D.O.H. also has a list of precautions on their website.

Don’t you just love the summer? What are some things that you do to get rid of mosquitos?
