The winter weather and aging infrastructure are likely the reasons that some Albany area roads and water mains have created havoc, throughout the area over the past few days.

In the story from WNYT, there were three areas where there was either a broken water main disrupted service, or sink holes may have closed some roads. In Troy, there was a broken water pipe under the road on Fifteenth Street, near Hoosick Street. That was on Saturday, with a return of the workers on Sunday.

On Monday in Albany, a section of First Street near Lark Street had a sink hole where a garbage truck was partially swallowed. The sink hole is believed to be caused by a leak in a part of a fire hydrant system.

In Watervliet, there was a water main break under Watervliet Shaker Road near Mahogany Lane. That also happened on Monday.

I have a feeling that with some more nasty winter weather on the way, there will probably be more issues like these happening all over the area.
