It’s hard to believe that it’s still winter. Spring officially starts on March 22, even though we’re expected to have temperatures in the 60s this week.

I think most of us start thinking about those places that we love to drive to when the nice weather moves into the Albany area. Places to go and take a break out of your busy day, whether you’re alone or with the family. Some of these places may not be open yet, but I know it won’t be long before they are.

5) Kurver Kreme

If you’re driving on Central Avenue near Fuller Road in Colonie, you know it’s just about time for Kurver Kreme to open, for great soft ice cream.

4) Gus’s Hot Dogs

Gus’s is at 212 25th Street in Watervliet is open all year round, but in when we get the warm weather it’s always a treat to sit outside and enjoy their hot dogs and burgers, with the works.

3) Jumpin’ Jack’s Drive-In

Next to the Western Gateway Bridge in Scotia, Jumpin’ Jack’s has the best of both world’s - burgers, fries and ice cream.

2) Guptill’s Coney Express

It’s always a treat when Guptill's Coney Express opens for the season. In the beginning of ice cream season, if you like to roller skate, you can skate for a few hours and then head outside and enjoy some ice cream. Guptill’s is at 1085 Route 9 in Cohoes.

1) Jack’s Drive-Inn

Jack’s is just outside of Troy on Main Street in Wynantskill. They are already open.

If they're not open yet, you know that you always look forward to when they do open. What’s your favorite warm weather place to eat or get ice cream?
