Mars has not been this close to Earth in 10 years, and tonight you can get a great look at the 'red' planet!

According to the Times Union, this means this is the largest and brightest the planet has been in 10 years!  Which means you can get a really good look at it with the naked eye right now. Mars will actually be close for another week, but tonight we will have the clearest skies. The Times Union says you can see the planet in the Southeast sky around 9:18pm, an hour after sunset. Just look for the red planet!

And if you really want to get into the mood, load Brooks & Dunn 'Red Dirt Road' onto your smartphone and play it on repeat. ;)
