Coeymans Police have responded to backlash after a video surfaced online of police cruisers trying to run over a rabid raccoon.

According to the Coeyman's Police, officers were responding to reports of the raccoon trying to get into an establishment and the officers who were on the scene took what they throught was the safest action possible to keep bystanders safe. According to the Times Union, the reports of the rabid raccoon were at Faith Plaza in Ravena.

While some are coming to the defense of the Coeyman's Police, many are wondering if there could have been a more humane way to handle this situation while keeping the public in the immediate area safe. Right or wrong, the video is difficult to watch. You can watch the video at this link and warning, it is disturbing.
