Van Corlaer Elementary School Sings Their Song About Bullies: Reading, Writing, Rhyming [AUDIO]
The anti- bullying crusade continues here at Townsquare Media. We are continuing to take the message to schools throughout the Capital Region through the “Reading, Writing, and Rhyming Tour”, and thanks in no small part to Hannaford Supermarkets for sponsoring the program. Here’s the latest song creation from the super-singers from Van Corlaer Elementary in Schenectady.
Many thanks to second grade teacher Heather DeFilipo for having me in once again this year. Last year we did a song to advertise “Blue Friday“, our fundraiser to help families of police officers. Oddly enough, we just completed this year’s event exactly a year to the day of this appearance.
But bullying was on our mind this year, and the kids were ready to work. They took the classic song “Hound Dog” Elvis and very cleverly transformed it into a fun, yet serious anti-bullying song that really brings the message home.

We had a lot of fun doing this, and the kids were great and excited to be a part of the project. However, make no mistake, we take this issue very seriously, of course and are working closely with the Academy For Character Education at Sage Colleges, Mayor John McDonald of Cohoes, and Rennselaer County Executive Cathy Jimino’s office.
Let’s all work hard to spread the word that bullying is wrong, a terrible way to act, and destructive to all involved.
