Upstate Location and Cast Announcement for Dannemora Film

Remember in 2015 when Clinton County Correctional Facility in Dannemora was all anyone could talk about? Recently, we had the brilliant Lifetime movie "New York Prison Break: The Seduction of Joyce Mitchell" and now Showtime picked it up for a miniseries with some pretty big names.

Ben Stiller will be directing the film "Escape at Dannemora" which is beginning to film later this year. Stiller and a film crew have been seen around the Plattsburgh area as recently as Tuesday planning out the filming. The hope is to film the series in the exact locations the events occurred. The crew visited City Hall, the Clinton County Government Center, and obviously Clinton County Correctional Facility.

Staring in the series is Benicio Del Toro as Richard Matt, Paul Dano as David Sweat, and Patricia Arquette as Joyce Mitchell. Ben Stiller does tend to make appearances in the movies that he directs but no word yet on if he will be appearing in this film.

I understand wanting to film at the exact locations if you can. I assume it's cheap and it's better for the story but can you imagine having to film a movie surrounded by actual prisoners. I wonder how they're going to coordinate that when they plan to utilize the actual manhole cover and pathway through the jail they escaped from. Now that I think about it, that's probably going to be some great behind the scenes footage!
