According to Sheriff Jack Mahar, the driver the propane truck from yesterday's crash on Route 7 in the Town of Hoosick is currently under observation with head injuries at Albany Medical Center.  John N. Makris of West Islip, New York was driving a Venezia Liquid Tank Line truck, out of Pottstown, Pennsylvania ,when he lost contorl and crashed off an embankment.  The crash happened at approximately 12:30pm Monday.

While over 100 homes and businesses had to be evacuated nearby, fire crews are continuing to keep the wreckage cooled down with water in hopes of preventing an explosion.  It could be two days before Route 7 is completely re-opened again.

The Sheriff's Office is continuing a thorough investigation.  No charges have been filed, but they are pending.  A primary witness has been interviewed regarding the crash, but other possible witnesses are being sought out.  If anyone has information, they are asked to contact the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office at 518-270-5448.
