Two Bank Robberies Tuesday In The Albany Area
There were two bank robberies in the Albany area on Tuesday. I saw the report on YNN about one in Troy at the Hudson Valley Shopping Plaza branch of First Niagara Bank, near Hudson Valley Community College. Troy Police are checking the video surveillance tapes for the robber, who has not been caught yet.
The Times Union is reporting that 36-year-old Michael Sweeney robbed the Northway Mall branch of the Citizens Bank.
He was caught later in the afternoon by Colonie Police. They saw Sweeney leave the wooded area near the mall, at Central Avenue and Wolf Road. That’s when they took him into custody. No weapons were shown at either robbery, and thankfully no one was injured.
