One of my very first events with WGNA was the incredible opportunity to see and meet Garth Brooks and his incredible wife Trisha Yearwood. While everyone was in awe of having the opportunity to talk to Garth Brooks, I had another focus.

I love food. I love eating it, I love writing about it, I love cooking it. When I heard that we were going to have the chance to meet Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood my first reaction was to fan girl, but not because of Garth, but because I'm the biggest fan of Trisha's Southern Kitchen on Food Network.

I'll eat breakfast and follow Trisha live-tweeting while I watch her create these amazing Southern dishes that I've never experienced before. I've been a Northerner my whole life. Born and raised in Schenectady, Upstate NY and even when I went to college, I attended NYU in New York City so aside from some vacations down South, I'm not even close to considering myself an expert on Southern cooking. I thought maybe Trisha could help!

Trisha's Southern Kitchen is on every Saturday morning at 10:30AM EST but they also show an older episode on Sundays at 10:30AM EST. My hope is to take something from one of these two shows and cook it! Who's a better person to learn Southern cooking from than someone from the South? Every Monday, you can not only watch me attempt to make these delicious meals but share them with my co-workers! Enjoy!
