Four cars of a train that was carrying crude oil in Albany derailed on Monday afternoon, and the incident was not reported to the New York State Department Of Transportation until almost five hours later.

Because of the delay in reporting the incident, the N.Y.S.D.O.T. is fining the Canadian Pacific Railway.  It wasn’t reported within an hour, as required by New York State Law.

In the story from News10 ABC, it happened at Canadian Pacific Railway’s Kenwood Rail yard in Albany’s south end.

Luckily, there were no injuries, or any crude oil spilled. Several of the people who live very close to the tracks have voiced their concerns about things like this happening and what possibly could have happened.
