Stewart Haas Racing will hold a press conference today at 1pm.It was announced Sunday night that Tony Stewart will retire following the 2016 season. Today’s press conference will make the announcement official. You can watch live on NASCAR.com.

I was sad, but not totally shocked of the news. I really like Tony Stewart. I watched him win in Daytona. He’s a great driver. I think Kyle Bush reminds me today of what Tony used to be. He was so fun to watch.

Tony Stewart’s career is an amazing one! Stewart won Cup championships in 2002, 2005 and 2011. With 48 Cup victories, Stewart is sure to be inducted into NASCAR’s Hall of Fame.

But, over the last couple of years, things have taken a turn for Stewart. He hasn’t won a race in 2 years, he missed part of a season with a broken leg and now a civil law suit has been brought against him in the death of a driver last year in New York.

It’s rumored that Clint Bowyer, who was released from Michael Waltrip Racing, will likely replace Stewart in 2017. Bowyer will join Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch and Danica Patrick at SHR. Michael Waltrip Racing is closing shop at the end of this season. Bowyer is still looking for a car for the 2016 season.

Hopefully today when he announces his retirement, we hear he’s staying close to the NASCAR scene. It certainly won’t be the same without him.

Good luck Tony!
