Toby Keith Narrates Oklahoma City Thunder Documentary About Moore Tornado

When a devastating tornado ravaged Moore, Okla. in May, country superstar Toby Keith jumped headfirst into efforts to help his hometown. He’s still not finished, as the singer recently lent his voice to narrate the documentary, ‘OKC Thunder: Heart of the City.’

Instead of his award-winning singing vocals, Keith will use his narrating skills to chronicle the story about the people of his hometown and the heartwarming bond that was formed between Moore and the Oklahoma City Thunder after the horrendous storm whirled through the tiny town, causing enormous damage.

While Keith immediately flew to his much-loved town once he heard about the twister, the NBA team (which moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City in 2008) was also doing their part. Led by Thunder stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, the team visited Moore and helped contribute to relief efforts, raising the spirits of Sooner state residents and forming bonds with their fans-turned-friends. They also conducted a training camp practice at a local high school, showing the town they’d be there for support as they struggled to emerge from the damage.

In this 30-minute NBA TV Originals special, Keith reflects on the impact the storm had on his family (as his mother and sister still reside in Moore) and the sweet significance of the basketball team’s commitment to the community. With the efforts of the NBA team and the ‘Drinks After Work’ singer (who sold out a relief concert for the town in one hour), Moore is well-loved and cared for.

‘OKC Thunder: Heart of the City’ will premiere Friday (Nov. 22) at 7PM ET on NBA TV.
