2008- Toby Keith comes under fire on his sixth USO tour! While performing at a base in Kandahar, Afghanistan, his show is interrupted by mortar fire. The incident sends Toby and the 2,500 soldiers in the crowd scrambling for shelter.

1991- Garth Brooks wins a record six times in the 26th annual Academy Of Country Music awards on NBC. The big win includes Entertainer of the Year, Top Male Vocalist, Album for 'No Fences,' Single Record for 'Friends In Low Places' and Song of the Year and Video of the Year for 'The Dance.'

1976- Emmylou Harris' new version of the Buck Owens classic 'Together Again' becomes her first No. 1 Billboard Country single.
