Thomas Rhett needs to start making more room in his trophy case; his sophomore album, Tangled Up, has just earned RIAA platinum certification.

The news came as a shock to the rising superstar. Before taking the stage this past Saturday (Aug. 20) to open Jason Aldean's Six String Circus Tour, Rhett was surprised by his team and friends.

"It's crazy to think about all the fans who are taking this journey with me and are helping make things like this happen," Rhett says in a press release. "I've had an amazing year already, but finding out that the album went Platinum is one of the coolest moments so far."

Tangled Up has produced its fair share of awards, including three No. 1 singles: "Crash and Burn," "Die a Happy Man" and "T-Shirt." With this track record, it looks like his current single, "Vacation," will be making its way up the country radio airplay charts soon enough.

In addition to the record's resume, "Crash and Burn" was minted platinum, and "Die a Happy Man," a love song for his wife Lauren, was named two-times platinum as well as winning 2016 ACM Single of the Year.

"I’ve written love songs but never to the extent of that personal,” Rhett tells Taste of Country about the record breaking single. "We strictly wrote that song about me and my wife’s relationship. I just think this song shows how me and Lauren love each other, and I hope this song is an encouragement to other married couples or people that are dating."
