The Great American Trailer Park Rocks Saratoga
What happens when South Park meets Desperate Housewives and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas? You get The Great American Trailer Park!
The Musical, A country-rock and blues musical about agoraphobia, adultery, ’80s nostalgia, spray cheese, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, a broken electric chair, kleptomania, strippers, Costco, flan, and disco, The Great American Trailer Park Musical centers around regular guy Norbert and his agoraphobic wife, Jeannie, whose marriage is threatened by Armadillo Acres’ newcomer, the hot young stripper Pippi. The trailer park also plays home to a Greek-chorus-like trio of women Linoleum, Betty and Pickles, each dysfunctional in her own right. Throw in Pippi’s jealous marker sniffing ex-boyfriend Duke and you have a laugh filled night of theater.
The Local Actors Guild of Saratoga is proud to present the regional premiere of this amazingly funny musical at the Saratoga Arts Center, Broadway in Saratoga October 29 and 30.
Producer Jeremy Buechner answered some questions about the show after it’s big opening weekend (Oct. 22).
If I’m not really into plays or musicals, why would I like the Great American Trailer Park?People will love this show because everyone will relate to a character in this show and if you can’t relate you definitely have met someone that these characters will remind you of.
What song from the musical gets the biggest crowd reaction? It’s a tie between “The Great American TV Show” which is pretty much set up like a Jerry Springer episode and “Make Like a Nail and Press On” which is sung by the entire cast, it musically reminds me of the song “Broken Wing” by Martina McBride.
If you could cast a Country singer to be in this show, who would it be and what role would they be perfect for?
Well, there is a trio of women who help tell the story and they pretty much have the funniest lines in the show including “well, i’m missing one tooth but in the back, so’s you can hardly see it.” So for me to pick one country singer would be wrong so I would have to cast the trio as Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood.
What is the Local Actors Guild of Saratoga? It’s basically a group of actors, singers and designers who love to put on shows, but most importantly The Guild is a family which shows in this production.
Can anyone become a member if they want to get into theater? Absolutely, we welcome anyone who wants to try a shot at acting or designing.
