The Fresh Air Fund is an agency which started in 1877, that brings kids from New York City to live with a host family.

They have host families across 13 states and Canada, and that includes the Albany area. What many people don’t realize is that so many children that live in New York City never have a chance to experience life outside of the big city, and this is where the Fresh Air Fund comes to help.

Many things that we take for granted that we may do in our area, the kids that are in the Fresh Air Fund can experience and enjoy. Things as simple as running around the back yard or in the woods, catching lightning bugs in the summer or just looking up at the stars at night are things that these kids usually don’t get to enjoy. It also helps many of the host families slow down and just enjoy life a little bit more.
