One of my favorite places to visit over the summer is John Boyd Thacher Park. It's not too far away, it's a great view and when the weather is beautiful, nothing beats a walk through Indian Ladder. Now, they're adding something new to Thacher Park, a huge visitor center!

Though Thacher Park is a great place to spend some time outside, sometimes it got a bit confusing. The entrances and exits to the trails were a little hard to understand, where to find various parking areas were confusing but they've cleared that all up with their brand new visitor center.

The state invested $3.8 million over the past two years to build this 8,240 square ft building, according to The Daily Gazette. Their hope is to include some interactive exhibits of the history of the park and a place for people to go inside so that the park can become a four season destination.

Included in the construction of the building, they use solar panels for energy which were developed by a local company, Saratoga Associates. Also, in the future, they hope to have a rock climbing wall open by Memorial Day weekend and an adventure course open by July.

Thacher Park was amazing in its own right but now with the addition of Thacher Park Center, I hope that this just brings them more tourism and the ability to make money to conserve its original natural beauty.
