Movie Studio May be Coming to Schenectady

There have been several movies that have had some of their scenes shot in the Albany area in the past.

The ones that come to mind are Ironweed, Salt and The Place Beyond The Pines. Now we may be going one step further.

There’s a California-based company looking to buy property in Schenectady. In a story from the Times Union, the company that’s looking into the $68 million project is planning to build the studio that could be used for movies and television production. The plan is to build on the former American Locomotive train plant site near Erie Boulevard in Schenectady. The project has been named Mohawk River Studios.

So we may soon be hearing about “a world not so far away,” you could be in pictures.

Just remember us little people if you become a big time movie star.
