Fan Rushes Taylor Swift Onstage at London Show
Taylor Swift took what could have been a scary incident and handled it like a pro when a fan rushed the stage at her show in London on Saturday (Feb. 1).
The 'Begin Again' singer was finishing up her concert at the O2 Arena and the final bows were sweeping the stage when, out of nowhere, a male fan -- desperate to make contact with Swift -- scrambled onto the stage.
Dressed in a baggy shirt, jeans and Converse sneakers, the fan pounced onstage and ran up the large starcase toward Swift, who gracefully smiled at him, shook his hand and took his note before security carried him offstage -- all to the tune of 'We Are Never Getting Back Together.' According to reports, the note contained the fan's email address, and he traveled all the way from Iceland to hand-deliver it to the songstress.
A spokesperson for the arena issued a brief statement following the incident, saying that the safety of fans and visiting artists "is of paramount importance to us."
Added the rep, "However, with regards to the stage invader during Taylor Swift's concert here on Saturday night it is now a police matter."
Without skipping a beat, Swift played out her show, which was the first of five at London's O2 Arena. Thankfully, the rest of the concert went off without hitch, and even included invited guest Ed Sheeran, who sang his song 'Lego House' with Swift to the delight of 15,000 screaming fans.
While Swift's Red Tour will wrap up overseas on Feb. 11, the superstar is expected to debut a new album later in 2014. It will be the follow-up to 2012's 'Red.'
