I live in Cohoes and noticed a huge undertaking in overhauling the park on Columbia Street and turning it into the Veterans Memorial Park. On Veterans Day, the construction was complete and the park was dedicated.

Here is a list of some area Veterans Day events taking place in the Capital Region on Saturday.

In an effort to honor veterans, a local school invited those who served to come into their classrooms. They spent the day learning about history and making new friends.

Veteran's Day is this Saturday, and this is your chance to have one of the WGNA DJ's honor the Veteran in your life on the air.

Troy is now doing even more to support the veterans who fought for our freedoms. A Troy Military Banner kickoff program was on Sunday and since then, you're going to see something different lining the streets.

Restaurants and retailers locally and nationally are thanking our Veteran's past and present on Veteran's Day!

I've lived in the Capital Region almost my entire 33 years and I feel like I am constantly discovering new things all the time. I can't tell you how many countless times I've been to Empire State Plaza: for a show, for fireworks, for the sheer beauty of the architecture and failed to notice one of the most important pieces within its surroundings.
