By gaining maximum points last week at Martinsville Jimmie Johnson has taken the points lead in the chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.  On Friday he won the pole starting spot for the second week in a row.  Now Johnson and Lowes team are in position to control their own destiny over the final three races of the season.

NASCAR heads to Texas this weekend.  Friday night qualifying found Martin Truex, Jr.  setting fast time, winning the pole for Saturday night's Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.  Truex turned a qualifying speedway of 190.369 mph in his Michael Watrip-owned Toyota.  Last year's winner, Matt Kenseth will start second.
