Sorry folks, but the brain needs a little recharging, so I am taking this Thursday off from Your Town Thursday, the feature where a song is written about a local small town. But that doesn't mean I don't want your nominations
This was a big challenge. I mean, why do people climb Mount Everest? Because it's THERE, that's why. So I climbed my own mountain. I wanted to see if I could do a 20 song medley of Your Town Thursday songs. I hope you like it.
I'm slowly losing count of how many songs I've written for local towns. But the quest continues to write one for each hamlet, village or "one horse town" in the Capital Region. (And don't take the "one horse town" line personally. I think those are the most fun to write.
Sometimes these things write themselves. Other times it's staring blankly at a blank page until something comes to mind. That's songwriting for ya. A big factor is the amount of information I am given beforehand. That's where hopefully you can come in for the next Your Town Thursday song

The sad news we got earlier today about the death of Andy Griffith started a lively discussion around the station about how much we all loved The Andy Griffith Show and what our favorite moments and quotes were from the series. One of our staff members tweeted that "it's a sad day in Mayberry" and that got us thinking - out of all of the awesome small towns in our GNA community, which town is the most like Mayberry? Take our poll and tell us what you think!
In order to write a decent town theme song you need decent information, and thanks to Kathy Burbank of the Guilderland Chamber Of Commerce, I got it. Thanks, Kathy. Now let's commence with yet another Your Town Thursday song
Sorry, polls are closed. The results are in. Guilderland handily beat Granville to get their own theme song for the next installment of Your Town Thursday . That's step one - now I need your help giving me some interesting factoids.
