[UPDATED AT 6:39] Looks like we are closer to being in the clear than many counties south of the Albany area. We are still under a tornado watch until around 9PM, and there is still the possibility of some thunderstorms, possibly severe. The worst of the storm is tracking south of the Albany area. Strong Storm System Moving Into Massachussetts And Vermont

The push continues through Albany on the severe storm front. The cell is moving quickly towards Massachusetts and Vermont. Heavy rains, strong winds in the range of 50 m.p.h. and frequent lightning strikes are what those ares will see. Remember that potential for large hail exists with this system. Concerns of flooding in the North Country are a concern now as another band of storms is behind the one that just ripped through.

Storm System Over Schenectady County Now and Heading Into Albany

This storm system is producing high winds and has the potential for golf ball size hail which was actually reported in the Lake George region earlier this afternoon. It is now moving through Schenectady County and into Albany County. The 1077 'GNA studios in Schenectady are receiving heavy rains, and high winds at about 50 miles per hour.

Heavy Storms Passing Through Saratoga County

According the the National Weather Service a strong storm front moving Northeast at about 50 miles an hour will be passing through Saratoga County very soon. Between 4:45pm and 5:10 the area from Ballston Spa through Wilton and the surrounding areas will see high winds and potential for golf ball size hail. Be careful.

Recent radar shows the storms passing through our region getting very intense now in the Lake George area with reports from WGNA listeners stating that 3.5 inch hail was falling not too long ago in the Bolton Landing Area.
