Four months after the first Capital Region cannabis dispensary opened in Schenectady, the second dispensary is open for business in Rensselaer.

When Oh Corn! Arepas and More closed its Halfmoon location suddenly in October 2021 after five years, customers weren't sure where the Venezuelan restaurant would reopen.

There has been a lot of construction being done on the New York State Thruway Rest Areas and finally, we are starting to see some of the rest stops being completed. Although the first rest area is open, this is one of the smaller versions of what the other ones will look like. The Indian Castle rest area just 90 minutes west of Albany is beautiful with a Popeye's and Starbucks inside. It boasts a Starbucks drive-thru and a convenience store featuring a variety of New York state products.

Thank goodness no one was injured when a lift truck on a tow truck slammed into the Sitterly Road overpass above the Northway between Exit 9 and Exit 8a on April 14th. But it did major damage to the Sitterly Road Bridge. The Department of Transportation has been working hard to get that overpass open and even though it's just a temporary fix, it will alleviate some of the traffic congestion in that area.

Let's go to the movies. Finally, Capital Region Regal Cinemas announced when they will opening but with restrictions in place. I feel that when movie theaters reopen we are slowly creeping back to a bit of normalcy. Also, who doesn't love movie theater popcorn? We will not only be able to see blockbuster movies but enjoy all of the snacks we have grown to love at the movies.

It seems that many places have been forced to close but there is good news if you love Friendly's restaurants. The two remaining locations in the Capital Region will not be closing anytime soon thanks to the sale of the historic brand.

With the go-ahead from Governor Cuomo to open movie theaters in Upstate New York, there were still questions on which ones would be showing movies this Friday. We now know that two of the Regal Cinemas in the Capital Region will be open.

Finally, we got an answer from the governor on when we can go to the movies. The answer came on Saturday that this week, movie theaters will open with limited capacity and restrictions. But not all Capital Region theaters may open.

There have been so many events canceled in the last six months because of the coronavirus pandemic but there is one that won't be shut down. Halloween 2020 is happening and to get you ready the largest Halloween stores in the Capital Region are open now or opening this month.

The coronavirus pandemic has not allowed us to enjoy the movies in the theaters. The movie theater companies are outlining plans to be back open sometime this month. There will be many changes but it will be nice to have the movie theater experience again.
