Every single one of the drivers who qualified at the Kansas Speedway on Friday broke the track record. That's because the track is newly repaved and record speeds are being set. The fastest of the fast was Hendrick Motorsports driver Kasey Kahne.

The big news in NASCAR this week is Dale Earnhardt Jr. will not be competing in the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway after being diagnosed with a concussion.

This weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway presents both risk and opportunity.  The risk relates to being caught up in the "big one" crash which could possibly eliminate some of the top drivers from being able to contend for the championship title.  The opportunity might be for some of the drivers who find themselves further back in the point standings going

Despite having a fast car, Jeff Gordon's chase for the NASCAR championship got off to a bad start last weekend at Chicagoland with a 35th place finish after wrecking with about 80 laps to go.  So Gordon is looking to bounce back at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend and is off to a good start after qualifying for the pole starting position.

Many professional athletes have pre-competition rituals or quirks, but NASCAR driver Tony Stewart has one of the strangest ones we've heard of.

Yesterday was the first race in the chase for the Sprint Cup Championship at Chicagoland Speedway. The winner was Brad Keselowski who has  had a very impressive year by winning 3 races during the regular  season and staying very consistent to solidify his spot in the chase. He beat out 5 time cup champion Jimmie Johnson who lead most of the race.

Nascar fans are really excited this year because Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be in the chase. The Sprint Cup Race For the Chase is the last 10 races of the season.  Tomorrow night we will know who those 12 lucky drivers driving for the championship will be.

After a disappointing race a week ago, defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart started this weekend on a high note as he won his first pole starting position of the season in qualifying for Sunday night's Advocare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
