With the big game this weekend, it's hard not to focus on football - and since the start of the 2013 NASCAR season is just a couple of weeks away, here is some news for both football and race fans.

Even though the Daytona 500 is still just about a month away, some of NASCAR's top stars will be racing at Daytona International Speedway this weekend.  It's the start of the Grand-Am sports car racing season and the opening race is the Rolex 24.

Two time Daytona 500 Champion Michael Waltrip will be making a special guest star appearance on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on Monday night.

Due to a rules change NASCAR made earlier this year, recently crowned 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Brad Keselowski will not be eligible for the first Cup race in 2013 at Daytona International Speedway.

The 2012 NASCAR season is rapidly coming to a close.  There are just two races left in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Series Championship.  This weekend the teams have headed west to Phoenix International Raceway.  In Friday's qualifying, a new track record was set.

By gaining maximum points last week at Martinsville Jimmie Johnson has taken the points lead in the chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.  On Friday he won the pole starting spot for the second week in a row.  Now Johnson and Lowes team are in position to control their own destiny over the final three races of the season.

Every single one of the drivers who qualified at the Kansas Speedway on Friday broke the track record. That's because the track is newly repaved and record speeds are being set. The fastest of the fast was Hendrick Motorsports driver Kasey Kahne.
